At the end of November 2018 is the referendum of against same- sex marriage passt, whereas according to the constitutional court in May 2017, getting mar- ried is a basic human right.
The Pro-Family Organizations, who are against legalisation of gay marriage, keep saying that heterosexuality is “normal”, that birth is the only virtue of marriage, that gay-marriage will cause ed- ucational, ethical and moral problems.
Such as teachers should stop teaching homosexualities in school, otherwise children could become gay. Further more, they argued that allowing gay mar- riage would increase the number of foreigners with HIV coming to Taiwan to take advantage of its healthcare system and increase divorce rate.
As a younger generation, these arguments are totally nonsense. I was quite surprised and disap- pointed and wondered how these people have these thoughts and what the merits marriage have. In- spired by Cassetteboys, I collect- ed and edited found-footages from internet, most of them were tv-broadcasts and tapes from public hearing. There are politi- cians, pro-family representers, as well as “experts”, who refuse to accept same sex marriage and had illogical, discriminating state- ments.

On 24 May 2019, same-sex marriage in Taiwan became legal. Taiwan is the first nation in Asia to perform same-sex marriage.
„More than 3,500 gay couples have tied the knot in Taiwan since the island nation became the first in Asia to legalize same-sex marriages, in May 2019.
According to the Ministry of the Interior (MOI), Taiwan has witnessed 3,553 same- sex unions, as of March. Among them, 2,431 were conducted between women and 1,122 between men.“
